Background

The Story of the Würth Group from humble beginnings to world leader is a fascinating and inspiring story. Adolf Würth founded the company with the sole purpose of selling screws in 1945. Following his passing in 1954, his son Reinhold took over the running of the business at only 19 years of age.

Reinhold has gone on to turn his father’s business into a World market leader in its core business, the trade in assembly and fastening products. Nowadays, there are very few industries with which Würth products are not being used- from construction, wood and metal crafting industries to automotive companies and everything in between.

The core business of the Würth Group is the global trade of fixing and assembly materials. Competence, quality and customer service forms the foundation of our philosophy. Würth Germany's range of products now stands at over 120,000.

The requirements of over 3 million customers is always a challenge for Würth employees but having over 71,000 employees (half of which are sales representatives) guarantees that we remain close to our customers and can thus provide competent advice and fast delivery.

At the end of the day Würth is still a family run business and what sets Würth apart from the competition is innovation and the desire to be the best in the business. This is reflected in the fact that the company has a large R& D department and in 2007, we set a record, with the Würth Group holding more than 60 patents.

Würth in Ireland

Back in 1982, Würth Ireland was established as a subsidiary of the Würth Group based on the Ballysimon road. In 1986, we moved from our rented premises to an adjacent site where we remain today. By now, the company had grown to 29 employees, of which 15 were sales representatives.

By the end of the 1986, Würth Ireland had exceeded 1.0 million in sales turnover.

  • In 1992, Würth Ireland took over responsibility for Wood sales in Northern Ireland (UK) from Winzer Würth Limited.
  • In 1993 the remaining business for Automotive was transferred from Würth UK Limited.
  • The Metal Division was formed in 1992 with two sales representatives in place.

In 1996, Carmen Würth officailly opened our new office & warehouse complex which at 3 acres was double the size of the previous warehouse. Continued growth throughout the nineties and into the new millennium has made Würth Ireland one of the top 1000 companies in the country.

Würth Ireland continues to operate in the fields of Automotive, Wood, Metal and Construction offering a range of 8,000 articles direct from the logistics centre in Limerick whilst offering the complete Würth range (120,000 articles) through direct shipment from Germany. The continued expansion led the company to open 10 shops throughout Ireland, of which 3 are based in the capital city of Dublin.
